Housecall Doctors Medical Group was founded in 2002 by Norman Vinn, D.O., MBA, who was one of the originators
of "The Residentialist" model of care. In the same way that Hospitalists specialize in the care of the hospital
patient, Residentialists specialize in the care of homebound/access-challenged patients.
Our clinicians
go onsite and render either temporary or ongoing care for patients for whom office care is not practical. We are experts
in the common illnesses that occur in the homebound, frail elderly and disabled patients. We understand the complex
interplay of clinical, psychosocial, nutritional and safety issues that influence care options, prognosis and quality of life.
HDMG clinicians are specifically trained to understand the special needs of the homebound, and to provide high-quality
healthcare while simultaneously working with their families, their care-givers, clinicians and other interested
parties. A "Residentialist" does more than diagnose a specific ailment and prescribe appropriate
medications, he/she looks for ways to prevent future problems like the risk of falls, resultant wounds, depression,
malnutrition, etc.
In the past five years the medical group has grown to 15 full-time and part-time contracted
clinicians serving Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. We have several contracts with
managed care organizations to deliver excellent care for their neediest patients where they need it most; to help them avert
unnecessary E.R. visits; and to help them more properly code their Medicare risk-adjusted scores.
We are currently managing over 1000 patients, and we are expanding our capability to serve the needs of more
families all the time.
